Mentor is proud to be a partner of REBOUND, a prevention project for 14-18 year olds.
REBOUND is about cooperative learning. It’s based on resilience theory and draws on different methods, based on real life experiences, for making decisions about drugs and alcohol.
The project is led by Dr. Henrik Jungaberle from the Institute of Medical Psychology, University of Heidelberg. REBOUND’s curriculum of 16 standardised lessons is currently being tested and developed in a pilot study in Germany. The team is working with 40 teachers and 250 young people in schools.
An important target is to create an online curriculum about psychoactive substances and the resilience needed to deal with risks that go with them. The online curriculum is currently closely linked to the 16 Rebound lessons. Students can comment and share views, and bring this into the school lessons, using their real names or a using a pseudonym if they prefer.
In the next year REBOUND comes to the UK with plans to conduct a pilot study in London.
The development of a UK pilot could be the first step in taking the project beyond schools, and making the 16-lesson course available to youth groups and young adults in a variety of settings.
